Drop the mic!

I feel like I’m in a parallel world where everything has a background music, a very specific song, whose chorus is “Merry Christmas, Baby,” Chuck Berry style.

If I go shopping, I fear that song will be playing at the store…

If I turn on the TV, that song might be used on a commercial…

If I travel for a small break away from Portugal, I bet it will be playing at the airport…

If I call someone, I think the song might be the waiting ring…

If I take an online course, I’m sure that theme will be playing in the background of the tutorial…

It will be everywhere, as far as I’m concerned!

And why am I sooooo obsessed with this song?

Well… The last Portuguese voice-overs I recorded were edited to the sound of “Merry Christmas, Baby” echoing in the background…

Not in the back of my head, nor on the DAW multitrack, but in the background of my house, in my youngest son’s room! He has a toy, a penguin, that sings “Merry Christmas, Baby” if you squeeze the tip of its wing. And my son loves squeezing it!

All in all, just today I edited a pt-PT tutorial voice-over on construction safety to the sound of “Merry Christmas, Baby” and edited an English VO with Portuguese accent for an IVR Phone System with “Merry Christmas, Baby” looping behind…

What’s next? A healthy eating campaign for TV to the sound of “Merry Christmas, Baby”?!

That chorus is so stucked inside me that I need to hear the full music to get it out of my head. Well, at least it’s what people say… But I can’t find the song title or the artist. It remembers Chuck Berry’s “Run Rudolph Run” with that happy, strong beat, rock and roll style. But it’s not that tune…
