Drop the mic!

I guess it’s in the line of duty, with or without a hair cut

In addition to my work as a voice actor in Portugal, I recently worked a few months at a communication agency that has a lot of employees. Each time I was introduced to my new colleagues the boss mentioned that I also worked in radio, always concluding: “Just listen to his voice”…
Pandora’s Box was open. At least as long as my mouth was.
I would walk through the corridors of the company and someone would ask me “Marcos, say something!”. And I would pretend I was presenting a song on the radio. “Marcos, talk to us!”. And I would emulate a radio news. “Marcos, just say something so we can hear your voice!”. And I would pretend to give the weather report like we do on the radio.
It got to the point where, three months later, I was approached by five people at different times of the same day only to speak about anything, no matter what…
It’s a recurring thing to see interviews with media personalities – and honestly, I’m not one of them! -, in which they complain about being approached on the street by fans not just for a hello and a selfie but to do what they do professionally. For instance, some people ask a comedian to tell a joke, a singer to “sing a little something”, or a model to pose. Now I understand how this can be a little annoying…
Ok… Now I feel silly for asking my barber to “trim my hair a little, please” when I cross with him at the sidewalks of our hometown.
