Drop the mic!

Warning: being a voice-over artist can be disgusting!

Oh, boy! I just spat all over my screen!

I regularly record spots for the in-store PA system of a retail chain in Portugal, for whom I’m asked to sound extremely happy, speak with tons of energy, and just overflow with enthusiasm!

The problem? My wildly exaggerated excitement apparently flows like liquid. Literally.

Alright, let’s stop beating around the bush: I meant to say that I leave the computer screen inside the audio booth covered in saliva drops, ok?

Yes, I spit everywhere…

At the end of the sessions, looking closely at the monitor, I notice I’ve just created a whole ecosystem of 1,001 tiny droplets. I have to rush to clean it up because if it dries the screen might turn into a 3D texture.

Note of gratitude: dear microphone, fear not. You’re completely safe. Fortunately, the genius who invented the pop filter didn’t just improve voice-over studio acoustics… He also created a medieval shield against my gushing enthusiasm.

Note to clients: whatever the style, with or without spit drops, I always guarantee a fluid delivery.
