Drop the mic!

Good things attract good things!

There are days when everything seems to go wrong, when we get into a spiral of problems which is hard to get out of!
I remember once, when doing a radio broadcast, I started accumulating small mistakes, like talking over music, forgetting to speak when I should speak, etc. Probably no one was noticing the errors but, as I’m a perfectionist, I got disappointed and, because of that, I ended up making the main mistake. I shouted at a colleague at the studio: “well, this is not going well!”. The problem was I had my mic open when he said that!
At those times the trick is to stop, reset ourselfes for a few seconds, and think: good things attract good things and bad things attract bad things. Assume that negative unforeseen events happen, don’t overestimate them, correct what needs to be corrected, and move on with a positive spirit!
Good things attract good things!
Keep calm and carry on.
Good things attract good things!
My fellow American voice talent Laura Schreiber also got a personal scare, and it could jeopardize a day’s work. But everything ended up well.
“I always try to make demo days “special” for everyone involved. Well, this day was really something! I had an audio engineer, Dave Scott, and a student, Bill McCandless, coming to my house for a demo session at my studio.
I knew Dave loved grapes so amongst the snacks I prepared I got fresh grapes that looked delicious. Within 10 minutes of when Dave was supposed to arrive, I left the room briefly and my puppy jumped up on the counter and ate all the grapes! If you have ever had a dog, then you know grapes are toxic to dogs. So, at precisely the moment that I wanted calm in my beautiful studio, Dave had to help me give Daisy hydrogen peroxide to drink so that she would vomit the grapes and not have to go to the hospital.
I tried to take her outside, but instead, she decided to empty her stomach just outside my booth. Imagine all this going on while we were waiting for my student to arrive for his big day!! Thank goodness I had an ample supply of lysol and paper towels and was able to clean up and put Daisy somewhere safe before our student came for his demo.
We were so lucky that the puppy was ok and the demo session was not affected. Thankfully I also had trail mix that the dog did not find! What a day”.
I’m glad everything was ok at the end!
